Throughout this course, we’ll be playing blues in a variety of keys. In this lesson, we’ll learn a shuffle riff in the popular blues key of E. We can practice this riff by playing along with another of our backing tracks to give us the feel of jamming with a bassist and drummer.
As a fun side note, we take a very brief look at an uptempo rock ‘n’ roll variation of this riff, featuring some palm-muting. We’ll be learning some Chuck Berry influenced rock ‘n’ roll later in the course, so this should help prepare us.
